The Icom IC-705 is a relatively new radio when it comes to OmniRig. So new in fact that I had to rewrite an IC-9700 ini file so that the Omnirig software would see the IC-705 which it now does. Omni-Rig is go-between software available on the DXatlas website. It supports many different radios.

This ini file has only been tested in OmniRig Version 1.19. Installation is simple. Download and extract the ini file from the zip file. Copy the ini file into the Rigs folder located at \Program Files (x86)\Afreet\OmniRig\Rigs. Launch the OmniRig program and search for the IC-705 in the Rig type drop-down.

If you’re not familiar with OmniRig, it’s a go-between app that sits between your contest logging software and your radio. Once installed, the contest software, such as VKCL, will follow and transfer the frequency (band) and mode of the radio into the respective fields in the software.

I used a virtual serial port to connect to the IC-705 via WiFi. It worked a treat and will make life super easy when it comes to logging contacts in any future field day.
