Zingy homemade pita chips

So how many times have you bought a bag of flatbreads from the supermarket only to find yourself using one or two from a pack of five? Recently on a trip to Costco, a two-pack (10 flatbreads) cost just $5 so with plenty surplus to our requirements, it was time for some homemade pita chips. These are so easy and tasty you'll wonder why you never made them sooner.

  • Find yourself a sharp kitchen knife too. Blunt ones can slip resulting in unwanted removal of fingers.



  • as many flatbreads as you like
  • good quality olive oil
  • freshly ground sea salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • sesame seeds



  • Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  • Grab yourself some pizza trays or some baking trays. Cover with a piece of baking paper.
  • Lay the pita bread on the tray and brush lightly all over with good quality olive oil.
  • Grind some fresh salt and pepper onto the freshly oiled bread.
  • Liberally sprinkle some sesame seeds over the pita bread.
  • Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes or until they start to lightly brown.
  • Remove and place pitas on a chopping board.
  • With a large knife, cut the crunch pita into large random shapes, or whatever you like.
  • Repeat with the next pita bread.
  • Serve warm with a dip and a cold drink.
