Half the battle with getting your head around new technology are the acronyms used.

 

For example, in DMR there’s a thing called a code plug. At first thought, it sounds like something painful, or physical you can touch or something that’s inserted into a piece of communications gear.  Turns out it’s just some channel programming code uploaded to a radio, not unlike any other radio cloning or programming software. Nothing physical at all!
